Support Groups


ADHD, ASC & Dyslexia - Family Resources Belgium

    The mission of ADHD, ASC & Dyslexia - Family Resource Belgium is to provide a network of support, evidence-based information and resources for the English-speaking families affected by Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD) and related conditions in Belgium, as well as for their teachers and other professionals who work with them. Related conditions include Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia, Asperger's Syndrome (AS), etc. They hold free support meetings for their members as well as workshops led by national and international experts and training for parents and teachers.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)

    Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; they are self-supporting through their own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Their primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Al-Anon Family Groups

    The Al-Anon Family Groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength and hope in order to solve their common problems. Al-Anon is not allied with any sect, denomination, political entity, organization, or institution; does not engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any cause. There are no dues for membership. Al-Anon is self-supporting through its own voluntary contributions. Al-Anon has but one purpose: to help families of alcoholics. We do this by practicing the Twelve Steps, by welcoming and giving comfort to families of alcoholics, and by giving understanding and encouragement to the alcoholic.

British Charitable Fund

    The Brussels Childbirth Trust (BCT) is a non-profit organisation that supports families and parents-to-be from around the globe, providing useful information, services and social activities, all in English, all under one umbrella.

“La Leche League (LLL) is an international volunteer organization that provides information and support about breastfeeding and breastfeeding. Overeaters Anonymous

OA or 'Overeaters Anonymous' is a self-help group for men and women struggling with compulsive behaviours towards food. They come together to share this experience, strength and hope to solve this problem. This is done in complete anonymity;only using first names. The principles and program of Alcoholics Anonymous are used as a basis. OA believes that compulsive overeating is a disease that can be stabilized by following 12 steps to recovery.

Emergency Psychiatric Care

The CHS Mental Health Centre is an appointment-only service and does not have a drop-in emergency facility.

In an emergency where you require immediate access to psychiatric help and live in the Brussels/Leuven area, the following university hospitals have a 24-hour psychiatrist on call (psychiatre de garde). The telephone numbers given are the hospitals’ emergency numbers.
