CHS-affiliated professional Dr. Mejianer Alcaraz Bekaert, Ph.D., Educational Counsellor and Specialist in Special Educational Needs (SEN), will be delivering a free seminar for parents:
Helping Neurodiverse Students Thrive at University
📅 27 June 2026
🕙 10:00–11:00 AM
📍 Community Help Service (CHS), Brussels
Many neurodiverse students encounter difficulties at university – not due to a lack of ability, but because they have not yet found an environment that allows their strengths to fully emerge.
While academic performance is often the primary focus, a student’s success is deeply influenced by whether they feel understood, supported, and grounded in their learning environment. This seminar introduces the THRIVE Matrix, a practical, research-informed framework designed to help families make confident and intentional decisions about university fit.
Through this approach, parents gain clarity on what truly matters: identifying environments that energize their teen, support their wellbeing, and enable them to flourish.
During this session, Dr. Alcaraz Bekaert will guide parents through:
- The four hidden triggers behind student dropout
- Why increased structure can sometimes have the opposite effect
- The five key environmental factors that shape student wellbeing
- How to apply the THRIVE Matrix to evaluate university fit
- Practical strategies that can be implemented immediately
This seminar provides an opportunity to move from uncertainty to informed decision-making, helping parents build the right support systems for their child’s success in higher education.
