Community Help Service (CHS) is hiring a part-time Helpline Supervisor to support its growing mental health helpline in Belgium. As call volumes increase – particularly from young people seeking emotional support – CHS is expanding its supervisory team to ensure high-quality care for callers and strong support for volunteers.

Our 24/7 and confidential English-language Helpline takes thousands of calls every year from people in Belgium and beyond who are struggling with their lives and all-too-often with suicidal thoughts. The part-time Supervisors are a critical safety net for Helpline volunteers who themselves are providing crisis and mental health support to our callers.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a modestly remunerated role requiring about 20 hours per month and is well-suited to experienced, compassionate mental health professionals looking to make a meaningful contribution in a volunteer-led organisation.

Supervisors play a vital role in training, mentoring, and supporting volunteers, co-chairing Helpline Committee meetings, monitoring service quality, and helping to maintain the wellbeing and resilience of the team.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a candidate with:

  • A degree in psychology, social work, or related field (preferred)
  • At least five years of clinical experience
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Supervisory or Helpline experience (a plus)

Supervisors are appointed for a renewable three-year term and serve as ex-officio members of the CHS Council.
