CHS is pleased to announce the introduction of a new, more memorable telephone number for its 24/7 Helpline.

For many years, callers have reached the Helpline on 02 648 4014. That number will remain fully active and continue to connect callers to our volunteer Helpline service until mid-2028. Alongside it, callers can now also reach the Helpline on 02 616 2626, a number designed to be easier to recognise, recall and share with others.

Memorable telephone numbers have long been used by organisations that provide essential services. Numbers containing repetition or simple patterns are generally easier to remember than random sequences, making them more likely to be recalled when someone needs help or wants to pass on contact details. For organisations that rely on public awareness, a distinctive number can improve accessibility and make it easier for people to get in touch.

CHS has chosen a gradual transition period. By keeping both numbers active in parallel until mid-2028, we have ample time to inform long-standing callers about the change while ensuring that nobody loses access to the service. The two-year overlap will also allow CHS to use up existing publicity materials carrying the outgoing number and replace them naturally with new materials featuring the new Helpline number.

The new number has already begun appearing in CHS communications. Runners who raised €1,500 for the CHS Helpline during the 20 km de Bruxelles race on 31 May wore T-shirts displaying the new number on the back, and the CHS website has been updated to feature the new contact details.

As the Helpline continues to serve an international and increasingly mobile community, the change also makes it easier for people calling from outside Belgium. An increasing proportion of the thousands of calls received by the Helpline each year now come from outside Brussels. The service can therefore be reached internationally on: +32 2 616 2626.
