Community Help Service (CHS) warmly thanks all participants, donors, and sponsors who supported Darkness into Light 2025, helping to raise more than €30,000 for the CHS Helpline.

CHS was honoured to be selected as Belgium’s official partner for Darkness into Light 2025, a global event organised by Irish charity Pieta. Held annually since 2009, Darkness into Light is a powerful show of solidarity for those impacted by suicide and self-harm. In the early morning of Saturday, May 10, more than 500 people in Belgium joined thousands worldwide in walking 5 km into the sunrise.

Most gathered before dawn in Brussels’ Parc du Cinquantenaire, marking a symbolic journey from darkness into light. In the still darkness, hundreds of night lights flickered gently, lighting the way for the walkers as they moved forward in quiet solidarity. Near the entrance to the park, volunteers created a stunning display, arranging the lights to spell out the word Hope—and its French counterpart, Espérance—a luminous tribute to those finding their way through darkness.

Jeremy Jennings, President of CHS, commented:

“It was a moving and memorable morning. We are absolutely delighted by the support we received. These funds will help ensure we can continue being there for people at their most vulnerable. We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this possible.”

CHS extends heartfelt thanks to all its supporters, especially campaign sponsors including Sidley’s Brussels office, Acumen Public Affairs, and ZN Consulting.
