CHS is delighted to announce that Dr. Curllin Alexis, Clinical Psychologist, will join our Clinical Team (Adults) on November 3. Dr. Alexis brings a wealth of experience, compassion, and cultural perspective to CHS, and we are delighted to welcome her to our growing team of dedicated mental health professionals.

Born and raised on the island of Carriacou, Grenada, Dr. Alexis is a native English speaker whose studies and practice in the United States and Cuba have shaped her deep commitment to culturally sensitive care. Her professional journey reflects a passion for supporting the intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, and relational growth of individuals across diverse backgrounds.

Dr. Alexis earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Wright State University in Ohio and completed her doctoral internship in Psychiatry at the University of Rochester Medical Center in New York. From an early age, she was fascinated by the mind and how our inner world shapes our experiences – a curiosity that continues to inspire her. She describes witnessing the transformative power of therapy as one of the most fulfilling aspects of her work.

INTEGRATIVE APPROACH

As a generalist clinician, Dr. Alexis takes an integrative approach, drawing from CBT, ACT, DBT, ERPT, EMDR, IFS, and MBSR to help individuals and couples reduce distress, build insight, and create meaningful change. She also conducts neurodivergence assessments for adults, including autism and ADHD.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Alexis enjoys facilitating workshops and outreach programmes on grief and loss, emotional regulation, neurodiversity, and cross-cultural identity. She views these conversations as vital for building empathy, belonging, and inclusion – values that strongly align with CHS’s mission.

Now based in Belgium, Dr. Alexis lives with her Belgian husband and their two children. Their love of travel and cultural exploration has taken them to the United States, Ecuador, Uganda, and Grenada before settling in Belgium. Outside of work, she finds joy in family life, cycling, reading, exercising, and snorkelling – activities that keep her grounded and connected to nature. She also hopes to offer therapy in Spanish and French in the near future.

CHS is honoured to welcome Dr. Alexis and looks forward to the warmth, expertise, and multicultural insight she will bring to our clients and community.
